YWCA Department of Health and Human Services Statement

YWCA USA is committed to ensuring health and safety for all women. As such, we urge President-elect Trump to put forth a nominee for secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) who shares these basic goals and has the expertise to move them forward. Representative Tom Price, the current nominee, has voted to dismantle the Affordable Care Act (ACA), access to reproductive healthcare, and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). These issues are central to women's empowerment and to the wellbeing of millions of American families. Representative Price's voting record indicates that he is not a leader who will champion the concerns of women and families if he is confirmed as secretary of HHS.
